I also agree and, as the editor of the Core section of the DOM spec, I can tell you that in my original proposal the importNode method was defined to be a move operation as opposed to the copy operation it now is. I still think there is a need for a move operation and I've already implemented one in my working directory of Xerces! I still need to fully test it though.
