Yes. Patches submitted to this list will be reviewed and applied.

I can certainly see the benefit of exposing "actual values", especially for
elements/attributes, so that applications don't need to parse the values
again, but it needs both time and a good design to support it. One of the
issues would be how to represent actual values. For example, what would be
an actual value for type "gYearMonth"? How about "duration"?

We (some committers of Xerces project) are trying to provide more
information via PSVI. As the first step, we want to expose information
required by the schema spec (3.X.5 sections of the structure spec): schema
components, element/attribute declarations, type definitions, etc.

So IMO, exposing "actual values" won't be the highest priority in the very
near future. But it would definitely be helpful if you want to share some
thoughts on how it can be implemented, and we'll consider including it if
it's easy enough.

Dear Xerces developers,

I'm working on a project (an implementation of the W3C XML Query -
XQuery - Language) in which we require typed XML data and I'm using
Xerces to decorate my data with schema information.

XQuery's requirements imply some changes to the current Xerces' PSVI
implementation though and I don't wish to have my own private Xerces to
maintain but rather give back my contributions (if they make sense to
people) to the main distribution.

Question: what is the best way of doing this? Shall just I submit
patches to this list? Is PSVI being actively developed? With whom should
I coordinate? I'd rather like to develop stuff that is of general
utility and that can be easily integrated with the current stuff...

Thank you very much for your help, regards,

  - Fabio
