Hi Andy,
Thanks for handling the freshmeat announcement. As to the timing, the
Xerces2.1-REL_PLAN.html in the root directory of the project gdoes say that
the target date was the week of Aug. 20. So we're actually behind
schedule!
But, I guess with everything going on at your end this got by you; andwith
everything going on at ours we didn't do a good job about announcing our
intentions (sorry for that). Here's hoping we all manage to synchronize a
bit better next time...
As to your XNI proposal, I looked at it too briefly to form any opinion;
I'll dig up the post and think about it a bit more over the long weekend.

Did I miss something? This release caught me by surprise
because I don't remember seeing any discussion about an
impending release on the mailing list lately. For this
release, I wanted to make my proposed XNI change (which
noone commented on) and update the documentation. If I
had some advance warning I could have worked on these
changes.
Regardless, I just submitted a new Freshmeat announce-
ment for Xerces-J 2.1.0.
