But if the Xerces 1.4.4 binaries are moved to the oldXerces1 directory,
users still have as much access to them as ever--and yet it's made clear
that, in the grand scheme of "current" parser versions, these do not have
the same status as the Xerces 2 stuff.  They really are old.

I have no problem with these changes (in fact, I'll make 'em if folks want
and I have the requisite privs).  But I would like to hear from others
first, especially since this would require some changes to the main
xml.apache.org homepage--the Xerces1 link would need to be altered for one.
