If you happen to be attending this year's ApacheCon in Las Vegas next week, please be sure to attend the presentations by some of our Xerces developers! It's a great chance to learn more about the Xerces parser and to meet some of the people that have been instrumental in bringing this great technology to the world. :)
Ted Leung was a full-time member of the Xerces team until he decided to move to Seattle, never to see the sun again. ;) When everyone else cringed at the thought of implementing XML Schema -- myself included! -- Ted stepped up and was responsible for keeping Xerces up to date during the volatile recommendation process. He was even team lead for awhile.
He's a great guy and really knows his stuff. Check out his following two presentations:
* Everything you always wanted to know about XML parsing * XML at the ASF: The XML, WS, and Cocoon projects
Elena Litani, as if you didn't already know, is the lead for the IBM team in Toronto, Canada responsible for most of the Xerces-J work happening today. She's very smart and is extremely dedicated to the Xerces project at Apache.
Don't pass up the opportunity to meet her when she presents:
* Apache XML Parser: Xerces2 and Xerces C++
If you run into Ted or Elena at the show, please be sure to say "Hi!" and let them know how much you appreciate their effort.

In addition to the Xerces people presenting at ApacheCon, I have a few more friends that are giving talks so here's a plug for them as well! :)
Doug Tidwell, the author of O'Reilly's book on XSLT *and* Programming Web Services with SOAP, is presenting:
* Building a Web service from SOAP to Nuts * Generating beautiful PDF files with FOP * Mangling data with XSLT
Mark Womack is presenting:
* What is new in log4j version 1.3?
Check 'em out!
