More generally (I know this is really a question for xerces-j-dev rather than user), are we still trying to keep Xerces JDK1.1 compatible? I feel it would be a good idea to do so while we can, since going to 1.2 shuts out anyone developing for the Microsoft java VM and possibly others. I have, in the past, produced COM components running in the Microsoft VM with Xerces-J, and if Xerces went over to 1.2, I'd have to use a different parser.
