What an interesting read! Thank you for pointing this out.

If I may be so bold as to inquire of you further, what do you consider
the best method for reading an MS Word text document created on a
Macintosh is? For this particular circumstance arises from the need to
convert certain characters which MS Word for Macintosh's text
documents use into something an XSLT processor can work with. They are
rather odd.
