Well, it's a truly weird one. I just did a grep of the entire source code tree for xerces-j, and the string "STTM" appears exactly once - as a bit pattern inside a GIF :-) I would think your only hope would be to provide a runnable example to demonstrate your problem and hope you can persuade someone to try to replicate the issue. I would be willing to run it, and post a confirm/deny result on this list, but I'm not a xerces developer.
