I guess I never asked to see what the compile problem was... Sorry.

I accidentally removed -lpthread in an attempt to force MakeMaker to
find -lxerces, and die if it couldn't find it. I never put it back :-(

If make test runs and you get all tests successful, then you have a
fully working copy of Xerces.pm, congratulations!
