Hey Frederick Paul,

I've sent the list the 2.0 files that Fabrice sent me. At the moment
I'm finishing teaching a Perl class here in Seattle, and I don't have
any time at all to dig through this. The class finishes tomorrow
evening, so I'll give it a thorough look on my flight back to NM on
Saturday.

The problem with 1.7 seems to lie with debian's perl-5.8.0, when I use
the 5.8 that I built myself, it compiles and works fine, but when I
use debians 5.8, I get the same problems you do.

For now, you the short term, you may have to build Perl yourself, or
use 5.6.1.

Cheers,
jas.
