Nigam (and Jason), As I mentioned off list, that's because your Makefile was created by ActiveState perl. The suggestion to try Cygwin will only work if you use Cygwin perl, xerces-c, ... for everything. I realise that might not be worth the trouble. I don't even know if it would work. I guess I'll have to try it myself...
