Unicode-math defines a math symbol \ac, from unicode-math-table.tex:
\UnicodeMathSymbol{"0223E}{\ac}{\mathbin}{most positive [inverted lazy s]}
Something like \let\acronym\ac before loading unicode-math, and then
using \acronym would solve the problem for now.
