as Ulrike Fischer has noticed
(http://tug.org/pipermail/xetex/2010-October/018895.html), fontspec
enters in a loop italics are defined as slanted:
\def\itdefault{sl}
The documentclass slides does it by default.
I have fixed that in my document adding:
\def\itdefault{it}
It works for me, but I guess that a more proper fix in fontspec itself
would be better.
Would you be so kind to improve this?

the lack of proper description, it hasn't been taken as a proper bug
