Well, if you use bidi package, still your hyperlinks would work reasonably fine (provided your linked text stays on one line which is not that much uncommon).

It depends on what kinds of documents you typeset, for me broken
hyperlinks is a show stopper (it is mainly why I shifted my interest to
LuaTeX early on), for me XeTeX as it stands now is not usable for RTL
typesetting, but, as Jonathan said, it works perfectly well for many
others.
