Use a native PostScript printer! Other printers need a host based (foreign) software that converts PS or PDF to a bitmap in a format the printer understands. This conversion software must not always understand what is contained in the PS or PDF file⦠On my Mac I can use a software supplied from my printer manufacturer which converts PS or PDF to a bitmap that my PS3 printer also understands. The print-outs of these bitmaps look different. They not only look "out of focus" and are a bit scaled down, they can also show different characters (with PS input). I can see the printed maintenance and bicycle symbols and their texts. (TeX Live 2012 with XeTeX, Version 3.1415926-2.5-0.9999.2 (TeX Live 2013).) Have you looked into your printer's LOG file? A UNIX host maintains such a file, recording the sad and happy happenings around print jobs. Maybe the failure to convert the symbol(s) is recorded in your system's LOGs. -- Greetings Pete People say that if you play Microsoft CD's backwards, you hear satanic things, but that's nothing, because if you play them forwards, they install MS Windows. -------------------------------------------------- Subscriptions, Archive, and List information, etc.: http://tug.org/mailman/listinfo/xetex
