Hi,

Ligature is working for me in Times New Roman, Just I modified the tex-text.map file and regenrated the tex-text.tec.

Below two lines add in the map file and regenrated the .tec file.

U+0066 U+0069 <> U+fb01 ; fi ligature
U+0066 U+006C <> U+fb02 ; fl ligature

In TeX file just call the fontspec command like that

   \setmainfont[Mapping=tex-text]{Times New Roman}

It will work.

Regards,
Baskaran. N.K.

I don't think there are any ligatures in Times New Roman :-).

It has only the fi and fl ligatures at the regular places, U+FB01 and U+FB02.

f in Times New Roman is dranw in a different way than f in Times Roman
from Adobe or in other high quality fonts. It is modified in order not
to look so bad if the fi ligature is not used (because MS Word cannot
use it automatically). The shapes of the ligatures, if they do exist,
will dramatically differ from those present in Computer Modern.
