thanks for your reply. A question to clarify my understanding of how your tool
works:
- use Docbook 1.77.x FO templates to create FOP from Docbook
XSL-FO, not FOP.
- use your FOP to WordML XSLT to create the Word file
Not quite. Our tool works as explained here:
http://www.xmlmind.com/foconverter/how_it_works.html
Simply in your case, the XSLT stylesheet which generates XSL-FO out of
DocBook comes from the Docbook XSL Stylesheets 1.77.x opensource project.
No offense intended, but if you don't know what is the XSL technology,
you are loosing your time with our product. You'd better look for
another product based on a different technology.
If I want to get another title page for my documents I have to specify this
title page in FOP and include it via the default docbook way for customizing.
This is not ideal but will probably work out - can you recommend any visual FO
editor?
No.
Another question: if I wanted to create word fields that link to document
properties how could I accomplish that with your tool (e.g. in the custom title
page: create a word field that shows the documents author)?
Our tool translates XSL-FO to a .docx file (among other formats). The
feature you need (generate word *fields*) cannot be expressed using
XSL-FO. Therefore our tool does not support it.
