On this page,

your description says:

“

XMLmind XSL-FO Converter is an XSL-FO
<http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xsl-20011015/> processor similar to
Apache FOP <http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/>, RenderX XEP
<http://www.renderx.com/tools/xep.html> or Antenna House XSL Formatter
<http://www.antennahouse.com/product.htm>, except that it generates
Microsoft® Word and OpenOffice/LibreOffice file formats __rather than__ PDF.

“

“Rather than” means “in place of” or “in lieu of”.

This sentence means that the XMLmind XSL-FO Converter does NOT produce PDF.

Is that what you meant?

Yes. XMLmind XSL-FO Converter translates XSL-FO to RTF, WML, DOCX and ODT, NOT to PDF or PostScript.

XMLmind XSL-FO Converter is a low-level tool designed to be embedded/integrated into/with other applications.

I am only writing to you because the info on the page “XSL Utility” says
that it does produce PDF, as well as the other outputs mentioned.

XMLmind XSL Utility is a desktop application which aims to be convenient to use by technical writers. That's why it can generate all kinds of formats.

Out of the box, XMLmind XSL Utility embeds two XSL-FO processors:

1) Free, open source, Apache FOP. This XSL-FO processor is used to generate PDF.

2) XMLmind XSL-FO Converter, our commercial product. This XSL-FO processor is used to generate RTF, WML, DOCX and ODT.

Moreover if you have a RenderX XEP copy installed on your computer, XMLmind XSL Utility can use it too to generate PDF.
