Hello,

thank you for the quick and detailed answer.

As you know the reason for showing "compatibility mode" wouldn't it be an
option for you to support both namespaces, i.e. the one compatible with Word
2007 and the one compatible for Word 2010? Especially when you imagine that
Word 2003 and 2007 are almost 10 years old and even other Word versions like
2013 and 2016 exist.

Thank you very much.

With kind regards/Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Does XMLMind support Word 2010?

Sure. XMLMind XSL-FO converter output is tested against all versions of
MS-Word starting from MS-Word 2003 and up to MS-Word 2013.

This "compatibility mode" string is completely harmless.

I'm sorry but the answer is no.

This "compatibility mode" string is a MS-Word feature and as such, is
not documented in the DOCX specifications.

We have tried to determine what could cause this "compatibility mode"
string to be displayed by MS-Word 2010 and have found just one good reason:

different XML namespaces used in the DOCX created by MS-Word 2010+
compared to those created by MS-Word 2007.

We are not 100% sure that just using the new namespaces would allow us
to get rid of the "compatibility mode" string.

We are 100% sure that using the new namespaces would cause MS-Word 2007
(or MS-Word 2003 + compatibility pack) to refuse to open the DOCX file.

In a nutshell,

For now, XMLmind XSL-FO converter generates *100% correct* DOCX files
compatible with as much versions of MS-Word as possible, even if this
causes MS-Word 2010+ to display "(compatibility mode)" in its title bar.

I'm sorry but we do not plan to add a "Generate MS-Word 2010+ DOCX"
option in the near future.
