Summary: session does not start when last resolution/frequency
setting in display settings cannot be used
Product: Xfce
Version: 4.5.x (SVN trunk)
Platform: PC (x86)
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: Medium
Component: xfce-mcs-plugins
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
User-Agent: Opera/9.20 (X11; Linux i686; U; de)
Build Identifier:
changing between nv and nvidia driver to tackle some problems with DPMS and the
frequencies and the automatically preselected default frequencies will lead to
the display settings being unusable and the session not start after a restart
of X.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use nv driver
2. Change from default to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
3. Do some work, logout
4. Use nvidia driver
5. Log in
6. Session crashes, as there is no such mode
(might also have happened with nv and nvidia swapped)
Expected Results:
1. Change to custom resolution in display settings
2. Log out, change to other driver, restart X
3. Log in, perhaps get message that deafault resolution was chosen, perhaps get
the display dialog, at least not have the session crash
Removing some lines in display.xml did the job, could log in afterwards. I
guess, for most people on most computers this won't happen, unless their
drivers do also only offer limited DPMS capabilities and crap information.
