xfce4 starts and runs properly when gdm3 is the display manager, however it
does
not work properly when started from lightdm, or from a console.
If I remove the directory
~/.config/xfce4
then I can start xfce4 from lightdm, but it still does not behave correctly.
For
instance, the settings manager does not allow me to set the resolution and some
applications are not found. If I make changes to some settings, then upon
exit and restart, it fails to start the session.
