First make sure thumbler is installed on your system. ( eg "sudo apt-get
install thumbler" on debian / ubuntu )

Like described in the WIki, create a config for the folder thumbnailer into
/usr/share/thumbnailers/folder.thumbnailer

Put a script which should be launched into: /usr/bin/folder-thumbnailer
make it executable "chmod +x /usr/bin/folder-thumbnailer"

Put some picture, e.g. folder.jpg into some folder for testing .. you should
see  now the picture on the folder

Best reboot the system to make sure that thumbler takes the folder.thumbnailer
into account
