Could you please take a try if the bug can be reproduced with nautilus and nemo ? These two and as well thunar use gvfs for remote file systems. If all 3 show the same bug, it could be a gvfs issue. Another thing to try: In the thunar settings you can configure thunar to only generate thumbnails for local files.
