Bug ID: 15995
Summary: xfce4-display-settings does not propose
left-of/above/below options!
Classification: Xfce Core
Product: Xfce4-settings
Version: 4.13.4
Hardware: HP
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: Medium
Component: Display Settings
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: Xfce 4.14
Hi,
I have a setting where my external (DisplayPort) monitor is physically on the
left of my laptop.
Each time I unplug this external monitor to use my laptop in stand-alone mode
(e.g. go on travel/make a presentation), then I plug the external monitor in
the laptop again, I see the "xfce4-display-settings -m" dialog box.
This dialog box only proposes the following options: laptop-only, mirror,
extends to the right, external only.
Unfortunately, I'm in none of these situations, so the simplest way I have to
get my configuration back is to reconfigure the whole settings: select
"advanced", select the external monitor, check "Use this display" and drag the
external monitor icon to the left of the laptop monitor's icon. This is very
time consuming and far from convenient.
The thing that bothers me the most is that, the left-of situation is part of
the standard configurations supported by XrandR ("above" and "below" are
supported too), so I don't understand why they are not proposed by
xfce4-display-settings...
What would be cool would be even better would be to be able to
select/automagically restore a saved configuration!
Thanks
