<p>
Xfce tilbyder et letvægts skrivebordsmiljø med en skrivebordshåndtering der
tegner baggrunden
og tillader dig at have ikoner på dit skrivebord, et panel med talrige
udvidelsesmoduler, overholdelse af standard til vindueshåndtering, en moderne
filhåndtering der er nem at bruge, en sessionshåndtering der tillader dig at
gemme den nuværende session, starte programmer automatisk, lukke, genstarte,
sætte din computer i hvile- eller dvaletilstand.
</p>
<p>
Xfce tilbyder også nogle helt almindelige programmer, designet til at opnå den
bedste brugeroplevelse. Blandt disse
programmer er: en tekstredigering, en lydmikser der understøtter flere lydkort,
en programfinder der kan starte dine programmer på en nem måde, en
billedfremviser,
en moderne terminalemulator, en iCal-baseret kalender til at håndtere
begivenheder og
aftaler med, samt et cd- og dvdbrænderprogram.

Derudover er mange yderligere funktioner tilbudt af
<a href="http://goodies.xfce.org";>Projektet Goodies</a>; en netlæser,
udvidelsesmoduler
til panelet og filhåndteringen, alene stående programmer såsom en ordbog, en
opgavehåndtering, en strømstyring, et program til at tage skærmbilleder, en
påmindelsestjeneste...

<h1>Om Xfce</h1>
<p>Xfce er et letvægtigt skrivebordsmiljø til UNIX-lignende operativsystemer.
Det sigter efter at være hurtigt og letvægtigt, samtidig med at det er visuelt
tiltrækkende og brugevenligt.</p>
<p>Xfce symboliserer den traditionelle UNIX-filosofi for modularitet og
genanvendelighed. Det indeholder en række af de komponenter der tilbyder den
komplette funktionalitet, man kan forvente af et moderne skrivebordsmiljø. De
er pakket separat, og du kan vælge blandt de pakker, der er til rådighed for
at skabe det optimale personlige skrivebordsmiljø</p>
<p>En anden af Xfce's prioriteter er overholdelsen af standarder, især dem der
er defineret af
href="http://freedesktop.org";>freedesktop.org</a>.</p>
<p>Xfce kan installeres på adskillige UNIX-platforme. Det er kendt for at kunne
blive kompileret på Linux, NetBSD, FreeBSD, Solaris, Cygwin og MacOS X, på
x86, PPC, Sparc, Alpha...</p>
