It's very good to check the result of the translation, this way you can make the application look good. There are cases where translating a small message very long, or the opposite, will render the GUI with excessive sizes. For example the french translation of Xfburn shows buttons with two lines of text by the use of return carriers (\n) -- not every message will display \n as return carriers -- check the screeshot[0]. You can always try to compare with the original messages by running the application with LANG=C, f.e. in a terminal run "LANG=C xfburn". To see your results you will have to compile from the source, you have to install the build prerequesites and clone the git repository, then you can make and test the application -- without installing -- by running the compiled binary which is usually placed under ./src/<APPLICATION> but it varies like for xfburn it is under ./xfburn/xfburn.
