Two comments:
(1) python should not be (is not) a dependency for gnumeric per the
following: https://packages.debian.org/sid/gnumeric
http://gnome-apps.13852.n7.nabble.com/gnumeric-amp-python2-td71380.html
Maybe the Fedora gnumeric package can be edited.
gnumeric requires libpython2.7.so.1.0()(64bit).
it's from supporting python plugins, I suppose. It can be disabled by
--without-python during build.
It also seems those plugins and Python plugins support can be moved to the
plugins-extra subpackage, working on it.
