Hi
After a successfull installation of my RH7.0
Linux starter kit from the Red Hat Linux Teach Yourself in 24 hours -ISBN 0
-672-31845-8 I try hardly to boot the program and I succeed only partially. I
choosed the booting from a boot diskette - no LILO installed. My computer - a
Pentium 166MHz with 40Mbyte memory has 2 hard disks: one - the master,
allocated entirely to win98 , the second , primary slave, a 10Gbytes ,
allocated to Linux and a 2G dos FAT16 partition.
If I boot a direct runlevel
3 or 5 I get an unvariable message of respawning too fast - and wait
undefinitely for 5 minutes. If I boot Linux Emergency then , after Ctrl-D,
the system start to boot and after some failure messages I get the
runlevel 3.
Now - I tried to run startx. Sometimes the Gnome
screen appears on my satisfaction...
The most times the Gnome is killed.
I attach ,as you asked, the log file
XFree86.0.log which I got after such an unsuccessful try with the hope that you
can help me with a good suggestion.
Anticipate thanks
Dorian Barladeanu
