Thanks for a quick reply.
since I am a newbie I have to wait till next version
of xfree86 is released. However as a last attempt I
did the following steps and now it is working:
1. Changed the size of Video Frame Buffer to 8M( in
BIOS)
2. Reloaded Caldera in expert mode.
3. Selected Generic VESA in vga configuration screen
4. Did a probe(it did not crash)
5. and manually modified the option to 'Programmable
system clock upto 70Mhz
6. Gave my monitor parameters in monitor settings
screen.
7. In the next screen for display setting I picked up
800 x 600, 8BPP, 256 colors and no Virtual Desktop.
Tested it once(b'cos I 've found in earlier
installations, if I test this setting for more than
once then it fails second time and every time there
after till I restart my m/c).
8. Chose for all package installation and customised
during review.
There after everything went fine.
