[XFree86] startx help!

hey everyone, after installing redhat 8 on a dell optiplex GN+ (9 hours for some reason), i'm stuck at the console screen after logging in as root. startx brings the following message of:

(==) Log File: "/var/log/XFree86.0.log", Time: Tue Jan 14 03:24:32 2003
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/XF86Config"
(EE) No devices detected

Fatal server error:
no screens found


What could be the problem here? i've attached XFree86.0.log, and if you can help, please give clear instructions, as i'm an extreme newbie.
