Thats probably a know RedHat problem - they have manged it
to put a few font pakages into their services which do change
the access rights to some of the font paths to root only.
AFAIK RedHat has addressed that in more recent packages,
but unless you know how to do an up2date in textmode you
wont get that far for the gui tool.
to my knowledge, you just have to change this manually.
somewhere in the mailing list repository you might find
the description from Mike A. Harris i think.
