I've been having trouble getting the Wacom Graphire 2 to work in X.

The system is RedHat 7.3 with a stock kernel (I believe -- it isn't my system). The kernel sees the device, and I can get data from /dev/input/event0. XFree86 correctly loads the wacom driver. I set the debug level to 10 on the X wacom driver, and I see a flurry of Wacom-related messages in the X log file. So data is getting from the tablet to the X server ok.

However I can't get Gimp to use the tablet. It sees it as an input device, but when trying to draw with it nothing happens.

I don't have the actual log file at the moment, but I remember seeing messages in the log to the effect of:

"Wacom tablet X resolution: 0, Y resolution: 0. Lower left: 0, 0. Upper right: 0, 0."

And then something like:

"Scale factor X: inf. Y: inf"

It looks like the tablet is incorrectly reporting its resolution. I think there are options for the Wacom X driver to force a particular resolution, but I'm not sure if that fix is the "correct" one.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,

Scott Long
