I modified the Debian kernel headers and compiled i830.0. insmod i830.o gave missing symbols cmpxchg __down_write __up_write This might be caused by my using obslete headers. In what source files are these symbols defined? Does kernel-image-2.4.20-686 supposed to have these symbols? Please recommend a tool that I can use to examine the kernel's symbol table. The next time I build i830.o I will use the headers used to build kernel-image-2.4.20-686 and a later libc6. kernel-image-2.4.20-686 comes with an i830.o version 1.2 which is rejected by 4.2.99.3 which demands version 1.3 or later.
