it's common knowledge that one can use xset to adjust the mouse acceleration factor and the radius of motion after which accel kicks in.
it's also common knowledge that add-on USB keyboards and pointing devices are becoming more and more popular for Linux/X11 workstations and laptops. what isn't common knowledge, is how to set the accel and sensitivity for these additional USB devices. xset seems to "see" only the first device listed in the XF86 config file. this is of course the primary mouse device, not the hotplug, removable USB device. I'm facing the problem myself now, trying out a strange but interesting combined keyboard/pad called Touchstream, by FingerWorks. as with most pointing devices it can be difficult to make fine accurate motions, and one often wants (esp. during graphic design) to "vernier" the pointer action down. I'd like to "tune" my touch pad just as I would my conventional mouse or trackball. after half a day of googling and sending email inquiries I have found no way of doing this. I'm not an XF86 guru by any means, so I may not be using the right keywords for my searches :-) but so far, no solution has emerged. XFree86 is my last hope. can anyone lend a clue? de ............................................................................. :De Clarke, Software Engineer UCO/Lick Observatory, UCSC: :Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | : :Web: www.ucolick.org | Don't Fear the Penguins : :1024D/B9C9E76E F892 5F17 8E0A F095 05CD EE8B D169 EDAA B9C9 E76E: _______________________________________________ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86
