[XFree86] installation problem

Hi

System : Intel 1.7 GHz
Chipset : Intel 845 GLAD
VGA : Intel Extreme 32MB(built in chipset)
RAM : 128 MB
Monitor : philips 104E
Linux : RedHat 8.0
My VGA does get detected, but the monitor is NOT probed by linux.

I have installed linux 8.0, but after installation the graphical user interface will not work. Some distorted images do show and screen flickers a few times but then it stops at the text prompt. when i enter root and password it remains at text prompt. when i enter the command "STARTX" it states error "NO screen found". I took my hard disk to a friends house he has a 1.13 GHZ intel 815 chipset, and linux did run perfectly there.

Error is that "NO screens found". Error messages are in log file mentioned. If you need the log file how do i access it to send to you.

Please reply and help me. I have been waiting for a long time to run linux.
