I'm new to Linux and I'm trying to install Red Hat 7.3 on a Compaq Deskpro. Videocard is S3 Trio 64V2 GX. Monitor is Samsung SyncMaster 500b. The probe correctly identifies the monitor and detects the video card as S3 Trio 64V2 (generic). The system is unable to boot into graphical mode. I receive the following message after entering startx. I'm also unable to use Xconfigurator for I get a segmentation error upon using it. I have spent more than 15 hours reinstalling and trying different settings with no success. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to give up on Linux yet! Thank You.
