Perhaps this is better posted to nvidia, but Mark is always such a
help. Let me know if it is the wrong place.

I recently installed gnome2.2 and am running xfree86 4.2.1 with nvidia's
proprietary drivers (2880-- but read nvidia newsgroups and this
apparently affects subsequent versions), kernel 2.4.20 on an Intel P4
with Geforce2 Go laptop. If I open a nautilus window (icon view) with a
lot of items in it (mine has 500) and I scroll vigorously, I can get X
to hang completely. I can ssh in, and X is taking 99% of the cpu and
won't die so I have to do a hard shutdown.

The nv driver does not have this issue. If I add:

Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps"

then nautilus and X are stable again. Is this a known issue (at
nvidia)? Is there a better fix?

Thanks,

Jamie Strandboge
