More info: I found out that when at the login screen, if I restart the XServer (there's a button to do it, or CTL-E), the keyboard starts working again. Now I can complete the login process, but the XServer is still having problems. It looks like X restarts and I end up back at the login screen again. At one point, after about 7 or so failed login attempts and restarts, I ended up at CON2 with the error message:
INIT: ID "2" respawning too fast: Disabled for 5 minutes. I waited the 5 minutes and ended up at the normal text mode login prompt. XServer was pretty much dead. I didn't try to restart it. Forgot to mention below that I am running with the latest kernel, 2.x.(24). Again, forget the exact version number, but in this case, the 24 is the identifying number. It's also at this point that KDE is going to try to startup, but I don't think we get that far. XServer is dying before KDE starts. _______________________________________________ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86
