When I change video resolution with <ctrl> <alt> <+>/<-> to a resolution smaller than my initial resolution I get a virtual screen which I can pan by placing the mouse cursor at the edge of the screen. This is the expected behavior. However in some circumstances this interferes with programs that i am running which have their own internal scrolling methods controlled by having the cursor at the edge of the screen. Having both X and the programs define this behavior is very disorienting. Is there any way to prevent mouse panning of virtual resolutions in X? (or even better map it to a keyboard function.)
