Well, when this error occurs, these are usually the only lines present
in XFree86.0.log.
When the X server crashes once before it installed his signal
handlers, it leaves the /tmp/.X0-lock and the /tmp/.X11-unix/X0 socket
around, and all subsequent tries give the above error.
So, buddy, you need to remove /tmp/.X0-lock and
/tmp/.X11-unix/* and try again. Then send the contents of
/var/log/XFree86.0.log that contains the real information about the
crashing server.
