Recently, I inserted my old ET6000 in MB with on-board i815 (got tired of X server lockups).
I have no more lockups but instead I saw kind of problem somebody with ET6000 encountered last month.
When having onboard card memory aperture at 64Mb, Tseng (as 4.2.1 routine sees it) is able of 12 to 75 MHz and maximum videomode is double-scan 576x432 (meaning modes 1024x768 are rejected because of "not enough memory" although memory "detected" is 2048Kb). Decreasing onboard card memory aperture to 32Mb raises maximum pixel clock "reported" to 112.5MHz, but more Tseng memory doesn't "show up", so no 24bpp modes. And NT4 sees 256Kb of Tseng memory in this setup. And no, I can't switch off onboard video.
I could spare some time on trying to fix the problem. But I'll have to have some coaching.
/I wonder -- did the 4.3.0 make any progress in i810/i8** lockup problem?/
