Is there a way to "restart" the xserver so that when it comes back up all the x programs you had running is still displayed?
Sort of 'reparsing/reloading' the XF86Config-4.
The reason I want to do this is to easy switched from GFX card output to TV output. Right nog I have to:
* cp XF86Config.tvout XF86Config
* Close all X programs
* shutdown X
* restart X
And when I'm done with tvout: * cp XF86Config.original XF86Config * Close all X programs * Shutdown X * Restart X
And idea's of how to just "switch" output?
If I could get the reloading of X to work you could simply write a small program that let's you choose from different XF86Config file
