After some advice from the group and reading FAQ’s I downloaded Xinstall.sh. I ran the sh Xinstall.sh –check command to see what I needed to download and then got the following message:

Uname reports Linux version ‘2.4.18-64GB-SMP’ architecture ‘i686’.  Object format is ‘ELF’.  Xinstall.sh : strings : command not found. No Linux /ix86 binaries for this libc version.

I thought I was lost before. No I know I’m lost.  Any and all help appreciated.

PS. I’ve got SUSE 8.0 and I’m trying to solve my Sis 650GL chipset problem.  Apparently XFree86 4.3.0 has driver support.
