I am using some older applications that use xlib to open up and write into windows. They work fine on other X systems (e.g. on SUNs und CDE), and older versions of
Linux but for new version of XFree 86, the following two problems occur:

- There is no buffering of the window content, ie. when I put another window on top, and
then remove it again, I just get a blank area where the other window used to be
(the window is openend with options that request that the X does the backing - attribute
CWBackingStore is set)

- There is no colour. Line drawings which are meant to be in colour come out as black and white.

Did anyone else come across this problem? I would greatly appreciate advice in the matter
(the solution could either be in a reconfiguration of the X system, or in changes to the
source code of my application). Please get in touch if you need more details to answer in a
meaningful way.

Regards
Frederik
