It sounds like there are lines or terms in your /etc/X11/XF86Config file
that shouldn't be there. Notice that what was printed out explains that
this is the configuration file used.

Notice the following:

(EE) Problem parsing the config file
(EE) Error from xf86HandleConfigFile()

The "EE" means this was an error and was what halted XFree86. I'm not
sure about the second error, but I suspect it is related to the first.
If you don't want to correct the XF86Config file by hand, there are two
basic tools to apply from the command line. There is xf86config, which
will prompt you for different information that it will use to create a
new XF86Config file. It will overwrite your original XF86Config file
unless you choose another name and/or location. You can apply the file
experimentally from the command line by evoking the server directly with
a specific XF86Config file like this: XFree86 -xf86config <insert file
name and location here>. You should have all the technical data at hand
about your monitor and video card. There is also the XFree86 server
itself which generates a very primitive XF86Config file. You apply this
by evoking the server with an option like this: "XFree86 -configure".
Both these programs require the user to be root and the second one will
place the experimental XF86Config.new in the /root/ directory.
