When you ask a question on a mailing list, you are hoping that someone else who subscribes to the list will be able to answer your question. Those people will typically only send their response to the list. You need to subscribe to see the answer to your question. It's not uncommon to get more than one answer to a question, which may provide different nuances or different levels of explanation. A mailing list is a common means of providing support for free and open source software. The developers may or may not have time to answer questions, so this is a way of one user helping another user. Subscribing gives you a chance to help some other, possibly newer user, and is one way of "giving something back". Maybe someone can point to a good online explanation of a mailing list, the etiquette, etc. Randy Kramer _______________________________________________ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86
