All,

Thanks in advance for your help. I have the following situation that
I'm not sure how to resolve:

I have a Toshiba 1415-S173 laptop successfully running Solaris 9 x86
and XFree86 4.3.0. Everything works as expected, the internal keyboard
and touchpad are functioning, and adding an external USB mouse works
simultaniously with the touchpad.

The more unfortunate issue, is that I can't get my external keyboard -
a Microsoft Natural Pro USB - to function properly under XFree86. The
funny thing is that under Solaris' X server (running in VGA mode), and
at the console the device works perfectly. Once I start up XFree, the
key mapping is totally messed up. Keystrokes do get recorded, but I
can't get a working keymap. To me, given all of the docs, this seems
like something that should practically work out of the box.

I have tried using different Xkb rules, keymaps, layouts, models
(microsoftpro as well), etc. I have also disabled Xkb entirely, but
nothing helps. The fact that the keyboard works at the console is
enough to make me think there is just a bug in the USB driver in
Solaris, or at the interface to the block device in XFree, but I can't
be sure.

Any help is much appreciated, and I can go on just using the internal
keybaord for the time being, but it would be really nice to use my
external. BTW, this laptop doesn't have any PS/2 ports, only USB.

FYI, the computer's configuration is as follows:

Hardware:

Toshiba 1415-S173 Celeron 1.8GHz
512 MB RAM
15" 1024x768 TFT LCD
nVidia Geforce4 420 Go GPU (16384K)
Alps 2-button touchpad (internal)
standard Toshiba laptop keyboard
Microsoft Natural Pro USB keyboard
Logitech marble scroll USB mouse

Software:
Solaris 9 x86, MU3 (04/03)
Solaris X server (doesn't work with 4.2.0 version of porting kit)
XFree86 4.3.0 using "nv" driver and "xaa"

Configuration:

My XF86Config is below:
