1) I got the source and installed xf86 over the existing xf86 rpm's from redhat9 (bad!).
2) Am also running in vmware on a winxp host. (sigh)
3) startx. Log looks good, but server quits.
4) startx $(which xterm) fails trying to load libexpat.so.1
5) for fun, set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to <xsrc>/xc/exports/lib
6) startx $(which xterm) works and load up two xterms.
7) startx with .xinitrc containing "startkde" works, but, running a gui based program like "display" in kde crashes at least kde if not x..
Librarys in wrong place? Cant do 1)? Any guidance appreciated, thanks much /b
