I've got a Radeon 9800 Pro that I've been wanting to use with the 2.5
kernels, since they work very well for me. However, the only usable
drivers at the moment are the FireGL drivers from schneider.de, which
don't compile against a 2.5 kernel. I noticed in the CVS changelog that
2D support for the 9800 has been added: "267. Add support for new Radeon
chips: R350(9800), RV350(9600,M10), RS250(IGP7000), RS300(IGP9000),
RV280(9200) (Hui [EMAIL PROTECTED]).", but although I've downloaded the latest code
via CVS, the radeon module still won't work, complaining that it can't
find any devices, and the information it writes to the XFree logfile
indicates that it only supports the 9700 and below. This is the tail end
of what it reports:
       ....
ATI Radeon 9500 AD (AGP), ATI Radeon 9500 AE (AGP),
ATI Radeon 9500 AF (AGP), ATI FireGL Z1/X1 AG (AGP),
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro ND (AGP), ATI Radeon 9700/9500Pro NE (AGP),
ATI Radeon 9700 NF (AGP), ATI FireGL X1 NG (AGP)
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 03:00:0
(WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:3:0:1)
found
(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

The same thing happens with the builtin DRM code in the 2.5 kernels. Am I
doing something wrong, or have I checked out the wrong things from CVS,
and so not got the radeon code with 9800 support? Any help is greatly
appreciated, as I would really like to get this working ASAP.

Andrew
