Hi,
I'm having trouble installing Linux Mandrake 9.1 on
my system, and the problem seems to be due to XFree.
I'm working on a Dell Dimension 8100, with an
NVIDIA RIVA TNT 2 M64 video card. (I also have an nVIDIA GeForce 2MX available,
but that didn't seem to work either).
While I'm installing LInux, I get an error message
that says:
"Error installing packages XFree86-server 4.3 -
5mdk.i596. Go on anyway?". When I tell the program to keep going, it does
install Linux, minus, apparently, XFree.
So: if I try startX, I get a log that
says:
"Couln't open module pcidata.
Unload module pcidata.
Failed to load module pcidata - module does not
exist (0)."
What do I do? Is there a way for me to update the
LInux distribution I have? What would be a command line for that, given that I
have no access to a graphic program for the web?
Can I download XFree and install it? How do I do
that?
thank you so much for any help!!
